What to Bring to Orientation

Transfer Student

Transfer students should bring the following to Orientation: 

  • Photo identification is required for check-in and must be a government-issued ID in order to receive an AggieCard during Transfer Orientation.
  • Student identification number, UC Davis Login ID, and Kerberos passphrase.
  • Transfer students who are admitted to the university with conditions must bring a print out of the "Conditions of Admission."
  • Pencil, pen and notebook to take notes.
  • Download copies of your unofficial transcripts to your laptop or tablet so you can have them available for advising and course registration. Transcripts are being processed throughout the summer and may not be uploaded into your personal record when you are at Orientation. 
  • Laptop or mobile device strongly recommended to assist in viewing Schedule Builder, the UC Davis General Catalog, and departmental websites. Past participants have shared they preferred using a laptop for the class scheduling process.
    -Note: It is the personal responsibility of each participant to ensure the safety of the mobile device at all times. UC Davis Orientation does not assume responsibility for loss or stolen property.
  • A bag or backpack to carry materials during the program.
  • A watch or an electronic device to keep time.
  • Variable clothing for hot weather and air-conditioned rooms. Some buildings and lecture halls will have room temperatures that cannot be adjusted or controlled.
  • Comfortable walking shoes.
  • A water bottle to stay hydrated. There are hydration stations in the Tercero Services Center and other residential buildings to fill water bottles.
  • Snacks (if desired, meal times are staggered)
  • Sunscreen
  • Any necessary medication

Transfer Family

Transfer Family participants should bring the following to Orientation:

  • Photo identification
  • Pencil or pen to take notes.
  • A watch or an electronic device to keep time.
  • Variable clothing for hot weather and air-conditioned rooms. Some buildings and lecture halls will have room temperatures that cannot be adjusted or controlled.
  • Comfortable walking shoes.
  • A water bottle to stay hydrated. There are hydration stations in the Tercero Services Center and other residential buildings to fill water bottles. 
  • Snacks (if desired, meal times are staggered)
  • Sunscreen
  • Transfer Family participants will receive guest wireless access at check-in and are free to bring mobile devices if desired.

Transfer Student & Family Overnight Participants

Transfer student and family participants are housed together in the same room.

It is recommended that all Transfer Program and Overnight participants bring the following:

  • An alarm clock or device with alarm capabilities.
  • Other basic toiletries (i.e. shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.).
  • Robe and/or shower shoes (bathrooms are community-style). Extra pillow and blanket (if desired).

Prepare Mobile Devices

Laptops

To assist in viewing the Schedule Builder, the UC Davis General Catalog, and departmental websites, Orientation highly encourages that student participants bring their laptops to their Transfer Orientation session.

  • It is the personal responsibility of each participant to ensure the safety of the laptop at all times. UC Davis Orientation does not assume responsibility for loss or stolen property.

Internet Connectivity 

  • Transfer student participants will be able to connect to the internet via wireless connections.
  • Overnight participants will have one ethernet port connection per room. Orientation does not provide ethernet cables. You will need to have already registered your laptop with Computing Accounts Services to use the ethernet port in your room.
  • Wireless internet access is available in the Tercero Residence Area during Transfer Orientation. You will need your Kerberos login and passphrase to access WiFi during Orientation.
