Check-In/Out for First-Year Students

Check in at Orientation

Pre-Event Arrival Information

Check-In (Sundays & Wednesdays)

Check-in for Pre-Event Overnight accommodations is available from 6:00 - 9:00 P.M. at the Wall Hall Main Lounge in the Tercero Residence Hall Area. See Travel and Parking for directions to the Tercero Residence Hall Area. Participants arriving after 9:00 P.M. are considered late and charged a late arrival fee of $25 per person. The charge is billed to the student's account along with any other charges for Orientation.

At check-in, participants will receive all program materials, parking permits and directions for the following morning. Orientation meals begin with breakfast on Day 1 for the registered session (the morning after Pre-Event Overnight Check-In). Suggestions for local dinner options can be provided at the Orientation Hospitality Desk upon request.

No shuttle services from the Davis Amtrak are available during the Pre-Event Arrival times. All parking in valid Visitor Parking spaces are free on Sundays and after 5:00 P.M. on weekdays, so participants arriving after 5:00 PM will not need to purchase a parking pass. Participants needing a parking permit will be issued one to cover their registered Orientation session time when parking is enforced on campus.

Check-In (Mondays & Thursdays)

Check-in is from 7:40-8:30 A.M. on Day 1 (Mondays and Thursdays) of the First-Year Orientation Schedule at the Wall Hall Main Lounge in the Tercero Residence Hall Area. All students should bring a government issued (state or federal) photo ID to check-in. Overnight rooms will not be available before the advertised check-in time. If a student or family participant(s) does not arrive by 1:00 P.M. on the first day or cancels the reservation less than two days prior to the registered session, the student will be responsible for the full reservation fee for all registered participant(s), regardless of UC Davis student status in Fall 2018.

Materials distributed at Check-in for registered participants:

  • Name Badges
  • Registered student and family participants receive separate materials, which contain their individual program schedules
    • Each student will receive one set of Orientation Materials
    • Each family is issued one set of Orientation Materials, regardless of the number of family participants registered
    • Additional materials are not available for distribution or purchase
  • Parking Permit (if participants will be driving and parked on-campus for the duration of Orientation)
  • Access Cards to overnight accommodations
    • Student and family participants stay in separate halls, but must check-in together

Check-Out and Program Conclusion (Tuesdays & Fridays)

Participants must follow all check-out instructions listed in the schedule. Student and Family participants may check-out at separate times on the morning of Day 2 (Tuesdays and Fridays), due to different program start times for the day.  For details see your participant schedule.

Overnight participants who fail to turn in the access card to their room by the scheduled time will be charged a $25 late fee. See the Policies and Fees  page for details.

The Orientation Student program finishes on Day 2 (Tuesdays and Fridays) between 5:00 – 5:30 P.M., while the Orientation Family program is scheduled to run until 5:00 P.M. Orientation concludes when students register for fall quarter classes! As soon as they have had their schedule verified by a professional academic advisor, students may leave.

The Orientation Shuttle is available at the conclusion of the program, offering trips back to the Davis Amtrak Station and the UC Davis Memorial Union. Shuttles will run in 15-minute increments beginning at 5:00 P.M. with the last shuttle leaving at 5:45 P.M. For further information regarding the Orientation Shuttle, see the Travel and Parking information.
